About the department
The Department of Civil
Engineering offers graduate degree programs in civil engineering. Civil
engineering is one of the broadest of engineering professions, encompassing
such diverse areas as aerospace, construction, environmental, geotechnical,
structural, and transportation engineering. Civil engineers are the fabricators
of our modern society and the protectors of the quality of the environment.
They deal with people and their management, materials and their use, designs
and their application, and the problems of beneficially interweaving these
factors to serve society
Vision
Our Vision is to produce engineers who having
professional and leadership qualities with capacity to take up professional and
research assignments in Civil Engineering and associated fields with focus on
inter-disciplinary and innovative approach and to compete at the global level.
Mission
To offer Bachelor Engineering programmes in civil
engineering and other skill development courses and projects that adds value to
student’s future competition.
To enhance research & consultancy resulting
in solving problems related to civil engineering infrastructure as well as
society at global level.
To impart quality and real time education to
contribute to the field of Civil Engineering.
Indoctrinate moral and ethical values among the
students.
Communicate knowledge with emphasis on the
development of leadership qualities in students.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
Impart quality education and knowledge in
contemporary science and technology to meet the challenges in the field of
Civil Engineering and to serve the society.
Impart the knowledge of analysis and design using
the codes of practice and software packages.
Indoctrinate the sense of ethics, morality,
creativity, leadership, professionalism, self-confidence and independent
thinking.
Galvanize the students to take up higher studies
and innovative research projects.
Program Specfic Outcome (PSOs)
Students have the ability to apply the knowledge
of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Programming Skills and Soft Skills to solve
Civil Engineering problems.
Student has the proficiency in streams of Civil
Engineering to visualise and execute the systems for sustainable living.
An ability to effectively use latest CAD, CAM and
Analysis software in the field of design and manufacturing.
The student has the practical knowledge and
experimental skills to tackle Civil Engineering problems using technical and
management skills, exhibiting professional ethics to meet the societal needs.
- The programme enables the faculty to develop
academic proficiency by involving in research & innovation, interaction
with industry and professional bodies through technical advice and Continuing
Education Programs (CEP) to meet the needs of the user system
Labs
Surveying is the technique and science of accurately finding out the position of points and the distances and angles.
Environmental engineers use the principles of engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental
problems. They are involved in efforts to improve recycling, waste
disposal, public health, and water and air pollution control.
Highway engineering is an engineering discipline branching from civil engineering that involves the planning, design, construction, operation, and
maintenance of roads, bridges, and tunnels to ensure safe and effective
transportation of people and goods.
A computer lab is a space which provides Computer services to a defined community. Computer labs are typically provided students for work.
Fluid mechanics deals with the study of all fluids under static and dynamic situations. Fluid mechanics is a branch of continuous mechanics which deals with
a relationship between forces, motions, and statical conditions in a continuous material.Hydrology and water resources deals with surface and ground-water processes.
