Profile

During my teaching career in Applied Mechanics department, I am one of the instrumental faculties who have perused the research in the field of earthquake engineering and taught the courses as a convener at under- and post- graduate level. Received a prestigious Hariom Ashram Award from Sardar Patel University for the best research paper publication in EarthquakeEngineering. (2006). I was selected and invited to deliver the live video expert lecture on Earthquake Engineering through education satellite (EDUSAT) in TECHSAT program of Government of Gujarat where faculties and students of all degree and diploma level institutions of the states participated (2005). Successfully coordinated the training program for the teaching faculties on Modern Methods of Analysis and Design of Buildings,which was sponsored by Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) under the Earthquake Ebased trainings (2003). Innovative software using counter propagation neural network has been developed to predict the earthquake forces on the regular reinforced concrete building frames. The research paper based on the same was presented at Internal Conference CONMAT at IIT Kharagpur (2003). A state of the art software for detecting building damage category with possible remedial measures has been developed using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and the outcome of research has been published in the special issue of Seismic retrofitting, Indian Concrete Journal (2002). Actively worked as a Team Leader on behalf of state authority to investigate,categorize and certify the degree of damages of building after 2th Jan. 2001 earthquake in Ahmedabad City. More than 250 buildings were investigated and certified satisfactorily (2001). Also I am guiding M.E. Civil (CASAD) students for their thesis, which includes the latest trends and updates in Earthquake Engineering. I am one of the prospective Ph.D. guides for structural engineering at Gujarat University.
